The Scottish Government has recently also made information available to GP practices regarding the 2014 / 2015 Shingles Vaccination programme. This programme will be extended this year following its introduction last year. The practice found that these vaccines were popular last year and well tolerated by patients. We would strongly encourage the following groups of patients to contact us (after 1st October) to enquire about receiving this vaccine

 1) Those aged 70 years on 1st September 2014 (those born between 2.9.43 and 1.9.44)
2) Those aged 78 years on 1st September 2014 (those born between 2.9.35 and 1.9.36)
3) Those aged 79 years on 1st September 2014 (those born between 2.9.34 and 1.9.35)

Please note that only patients who fall in to the above age ranges will be eligible for the shingles vaccine this year. The practice will be unable to consider administering the vaccine to anyone outwith these strict criteria.

Last year, vaccine supplies were limited and staggered over the Winter period. Please contact us to register your interest to allow us to inform you as soon as supplies are made available to us from NHS Borders. We apologise for any inconvenience caused if the vaccine is not available at the time of your request.
