Interviews Tuesday 9th July 2019

Due to retirement of a partner we are looking for a new member to join our GP team from July 2019.

This exciting opportunity will appeal to those wishing to balance their working and personal lives in the beautiful coastal setting of East Berwickshire in the Scottish Borders and be part of a friendly, dynamic and forward thinking team.  Eyemouth is a small semi-rural coastal town with excellent transport links to both Edinburgh, Newcastle and beyond via the A1 and East Coast Main Line rail services. The practice operates from a purpose built building in Eyemouth which was significantly modernised and extended in 2017 offering excellent facilities and administration space. There are currently 4 GP partners, 2 salaried GPs, 2 prescribing advanced nurse practitioners, 3 healthcare assistants and 1 practice nurse serving a list size of 6300 patients.  The practice also offers GP training and is currently hosting an ST3 level trainee. Co-located within the same building is a full complement of allied health professionals including physiotherapy, treatment room and community nursing services operated by the Health Board, as well as the Eyemouth Day Hospital which provides an excellent community resource. The practice runs a branch surgery in the local village of Coldingham, also dispensing to the local community.

Prior to the introduction of the new GMS contract in Scotland the practice consistently attained high achievement in QOF areas. The practice continues to maintain a high standard of care and is thriving on the new Scottish GMS contract introduced in 2018. This allows our clinicians the freedoms to practice more holistic patient centred care without the continuing constraints of QOF and the administrative burden of CQC that our colleagues in England face.  We also now offer 15 minute appointments and do not operate a duty doctor system. Combined with our excellent management team and paperless IT systems, this allows our GPs to focus on our patient care, as well as maintain a good work-life balance.

If this is what you are looking for then we are looking to offer the right candidate a permanent position either in partnership or salaried from July 2019 (we are flexible on dates). The practice can offer six or eight working sessions per week with protected administrative time for partners. Partners are offered 7 weeks annual leave per year with an additional 8 days of public holidays. Salaried position will be offered using terms of the model BMA contract. We welcome applications from GPs with all levels of experience and are also keen to nurture and develop individual areas of clinic interest. Informal enquiries to Dr David Cooksey via telephone on 07915 641860 or email David.Cooksey@borders.scot.nhs.uk

Formal applications to be made in writing with CV to Karen Gillan, Practice Manager via email to karen.gillan@eyemouthhc.borders.scot.nhs.uk

Applications to be made by 15/03/19. Interviews planned for 30/03/19.
