It’s Okay To Ask . . .

It’s important to know what’s going on with your own healthcare. Knowing the right questions to ask can make all the difference.

Here at Eyemouth Medical practice, we are supporting the recently launched “It’s OK to Ask” campaign to encourage and support patients to ask healthcare professionals questions about their care. Patients are at the centre of all our decision making so we aim to respect the preferences and wishes of each individual. We would encourage patients to use the questions below during consultations to ensure that they obtain all the necessary information to make informed choices.

1) What are the benefits of my treatment?
2) What are the risks of my treatment?
3) Any alternatives I can try?
4) What if I do nothing?

Please feel free to ask questions about your care so that you fully understand any suggestions made and the implications for your health. All our clinicians welcome enquiry and will aim to work collaboratively with you to reach a satisfactory outcome. We would like to ensure that patients feel empowered and well informed following clinical contacts so that the agreed course of action is acceptable and personalised to your needs.
